About this adventure
The beach camping trip is the one we run for guests who want the one Musandam experience no day-tripper can have. We drop you by dhow at a private cove inside Khor Sham, 90 minutes from Khasab Port. The cove is sheltered, has a pebble beach and a freshwater spring, and is only accessible by boat. The crew sets up the tents, the BBQ and the bonfire, and leaves you for the night. The dhow returns at 10:00 the next morning. The BBQ is grilled fish, grilled chicken, salads, hummus, rice, fruit. The bonfire is real wood, not gas, and burns for 4–5 hours. The tents are 2-person dome tents with sleeping bags and inflatable mattresses. There is a portable washroom tent with a dry toilet and a freshwater drum for hand-washing. There is zero light pollution. On a clear night, you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye. The stars are the point of the trip. Bring a book, bring a guitar, bring nothing — just sit by the bonfire and listen to the water. The dawn swim is the surprise. The water is calmest and clearest at sunrise, 06:00–07:00. Visibility is 12–16 m on a clear morning. Breakfast on the beach after — eggs, bread, hummus, fruit, tea, coffee.
