The full-day dhow cruise to Khor Sham is the one most of our guests book first — six hours, two swim stops, an Omani buffet on board, and a 90%+ chance of seeing dolphins between November and April. The half-day is the right pick if you only have a morning or afternoon in Khasab.
Khasab is about 200 km from Dubai. The drive is 2.5 hours to the Al Dara / Al Wajajah border on the RAK side, then 1.5 hours on the Oman side to Khasab. UAE residents need either a 50 AED 1-day border permit (issued at the counter) or a multi-entry tourist visa. Most nationalities get a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at the border for 50 AED.
Yes, but it is a long day. Pickup in Dubai is around 04:30, you are on the dhow by 10:00, and you are back in Dubai by 21:00. Most of our Dubai guests prefer the 2-day weekend getaway instead — Friday morning to Saturday evening, with a Khasab hotel night in between.
Swimwear, a light towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a light long-sleeve for the wind on the return, and a dry bag for your phone. We provide snorkel gear, life jackets, soft drinks and lunch. Bring a small amount of cash in AED or OMR for the border fees and any souvenirs at the souq.
Yes — Musandam is one of the safest regions in the Gulf. Crime is very low, locals are welcoming to visitors, and medical care in Khasab town is reasonable for the size of the population. Our guides accompany you on every tour, the boats are marine-insured, and we run a daily weather check before each departure.
