About this adventure
The Khor Najd viewpoint tour is the half-day companion to the full-day mountain safari. It is the right pick for cruise-ship passengers with a 5–7 hour Khasab stop, or anyone who has already done a dhow cruise and wants a quick morning in the mountains. We leave Khasab at 08:00 in a 4x4 (Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol, 6–7 seats). The route climbs the Sayh Plateau to 1,400 m, branches off at the Khor Najd junction, and switchbacks down to the viewpoint. The viewpoint is a 15-minute photo stop with a Bedouin tea tent. From the viewpoint we descend another 5 km to the pebble beach at the bottom of the bay. The water is shallow, the bay is sheltered, and the swim stop is 20–30 minutes. We bring snorkel gear on request. The drive back to Khasab is 60 minutes, with a stop at the Lulu Hypermarket roundabout for any last supplies. The Khor Najd viewpoint is the most-photographed spot in Musandam. The light is best 30 minutes after sunrise — the cliffs go from grey to gold within 10 minutes.
