Camping in Musandam — the only legal way
Wild camping in the khors (sea inlets) and on Seebi Island is only allowed as part of an overnight dhow cruise or a private boat charter, with a permit from the Royal Oman Police. There is no campground in Musandam in the way there is in some other countries. The overnight dhow camping cruise is the only option, and we have been running it since 2014.
The dhow leaves Khasab Port at 16:00, anchors in a sheltered cove on Khor Sham or Seebi Island around sunset, and we set up camp on the beach. The tents are 3-person dome tents (we give 2 people a 3-person tent, so you have space for your bags), the sleeping bags are rated to 5 degrees, and the air mattresses are self-inflating. Dinner is a fresh fish grill on the beach — captain catches it on the way in.
