Dolphin watching tour in Khor Sham — 2-hour speedboat
A 2-hour speedboat dolphin-watching tour in Khor Sham with a marine guide. We see dolphins on about 85% of trips; same species every month of the year.

What you'll do
This is the trip we run for guests who specifically want dolphins, and who do not have time for the half-day dhow cruise. The speedboat Sea Hawk 1 or Sea Hawk 2 takes you straight into the dolphin zones of Khor Sham, with a marine guide on board who can identify the three species you will see.
Khor Sham has resident pods of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus), spinner dolphins (Stenella longirostris) and the occasional humpback dolphin (Sousa plumbea). All three are year-round residents. The pods are usually within 25 minutes of the harbour, which is one of the reasons our sighting rate is so high.
The speedboat is small (6–8 guests) and we approach the dolphins at a respectful distance — never closer than 30 m, never in a way that splits the pod. Captain Khalid (18 years on this route) reads the surface for the signs — baitfish breaking the surface, sea birds working a feed, the dark shapes moving under the bow.
The 2-hour tour is the right pick for cruise-ship passengers, half-day visitors and anyone who just wants the dolphins. We do not stop for a swim on this tour — the boat is too small for a safe swim stop, and most guests want the time in the dolphin zones.

Local tip from the team
Sit in the middle of the boat if you are prone to seasickness. The bow is the best seat for photos but it bounces the most. The 16:00 departure has the softest light of the day.
Frequently asked questions
Will I see dolphins?
We see dolphins on about 85% of trips. Your captain will tell you honestly if the morning was quiet, and we offer a free repeat trip if you see nothing.
Are the dolphins fed?
No. We do not feed the dolphins, we do not attract them with bait, and we do not chase them. The pods are wild and we approach them at a respectful distance.
Can I swim with the dolphins?
No. This is a watching tour, not a swimming tour. Swimming with the dolphins in Khor Sham is not permitted by the local regulations.
Is the speedboat safe for kids?
Yes. We have life jackets for children from 10 kg. The youngest child we have taken on this trip was 3.
