Oman visa FAQ for Musandam travellers

Updated for 2026 from a Khasab-based operator.

Do I need a separate Oman visa for Musandam if I already have a UAE visa?

Yes. Holding a UAE residence visa or a UAE tourist visa does not grant entry to Oman. You need an Oman entry document — either a 1-day border permit (50 AED, issued at the Al Dara counter for UAE residents with eligible professions) or a tourist visa (50 AED on arrival, 14 days, for 70+ nationalities).

Which UAE residents qualify for the 1-day border permit?

Most professionally-classified UAE residence visas qualify — engineers, doctors, business owners, government staff, teachers, accountants, IT staff. Some labour-category occupations need the eVisa instead. The border officer decides at the counter; bring your Emirates ID and original passport in case they ask for clarification.

Where do I get the Oman visa on arrival?

At the Al Dara / Al Wajajah border post on the RAK side. Pay 50 AED at the counter in cash (AED) or by card. The whole process is 20–45 minutes on a weekday morning, longer on Friday afternoons and public holidays.

Is the eVisa worth the extra cost for a day trip?

For UAE residents on a single day-trip, no — the 1-day permit at 50 AED is the right pick. For overnight stays, multi-day packages, or any non-UAE-resident, the eVisa (or the on-arrival visa) is more flexible and is what we arrange for our weekend and family packages.

Can children get the Oman visa on arrival?

Yes. Children must have their own passport valid for 6+ months and pay the same 50 AED fee. Infants on a parent’s passport are no longer accepted — every traveller needs their own document.

Can you help with the visa at the border?

Yes. Our driver meets you at the Al Dara counter for any multi-day package, takes your passports and the cash, fills the forms, and walks them to the booth. You wait in the car. The driver service is included in the weekend getaway, family package, and honeymoon package; for day-trip dhow cruises, you cross yourself and we meet you on the Oman side.

Need help with the border?

We can arrange transport, paperwork support and a Khasab pickup from the border post. Tell us your travel dates and we'll send you the exact list, the exact cash amounts, and a WhatsApp number to call if you are stuck at the counter.
