Yes. The Al Dara / Al Wajajah border is 1 hour 15 minutes from RAK city centre, on the E18 west. It is the closest UAE-Oman border crossing to Musandam and the busiest — arrive before 08:00 to skip the queue.
06:00 to 07:00. The border opens 24/7 but the staff changeover is at 07:00, so arriving at 06:45 means you wait 15 minutes. By 08:30 the tour buses arrive and the queue builds.
Yes, a RAK taxi to the Al Dara border costs about 80-100 AED. From the border, the shared taxi to Khasab is 20 AED per person. The total is still cheaper than driving from Dubai.
