What you'll do
The sea-and-mountain combo is the trip we run for guests who have only one day in Khasab and want to see both sides of the peninsula. We start with the morning dhow cruise (08:30 – 13:00), transfer you to one of our 4x4s at the port, and finish with a half-day mountain safari to the Sayh Plateau, Jebel Harim viewpoint and Khor Najd (13:30 – 17:30).
The day is long but it is the most efficient way to see Musandam in a single visit. The dhow cruise includes the Omani buffet lunch, the mountain safari includes afternoon tea and Arabic coffee on the plateau, and the transfer between the two is 15 minutes.
The combo is the right pick for cruise-ship passengers with a long port day, day-trippers from the UAE, and anyone who wants the headline Musandam experience plus the headline mountain experience in one day.
It is not the right pick if you prefer a slower pace, you have kids under 6, or you have a medical condition that precludes the bumpy 4x4 drive. For a slower version, book the dhow cruise and mountain safari on two consecutive days.

Local tip from the team
Pack a small day-bag rather than a full backpack — the crew holds your big bag at the port during the transfer. The day-bag should have your closed shoes, a layer, your camera, and your wallet.

Can I do this trip with kids?
Yes for kids 6+. The dhow cruise is fine for any age, but the bumpy 4x4 leg is too much for younger kids.
Is lunch really on the boat?
Yes — the Omani buffet is served at noon. You do not need to buy lunch separately.
Can I skip the mountain leg?
You can. The driver will drop you at your hotel at 13:00 and the price is reduced to OMR 22 (the dhow-only rate).

**Crossing from the UAE to Musandam in 2026 — what to bring** You will need every one of these, in original form, not photocopies. Border officers at Al Dara do not accept digital copies on phones. • Passport valid for 6+ months from your date of entry • UAE residence visa (residents) or UAE tourist entry stamp • If driving: original Mulkiya (vehicle registration); rental car requires the rental company's NOC • 50 AED in cash per person for the Oman entry visa (or 1-day border permit, also 50 AED) • 35 AED in cash per person for the UAE exit fee • If your car is not insured for Oman: ~100 AED for a 1-day policy, ~175 AED for up to 7 days (buy at the counter on the RAK side) What we do for our guests: send a one-page PDF with the exact list above, the exact cash amounts, the exact border opening hours, and a WhatsApp number to call if you are stuck at the counter.
