Musandam dhow cruise from Fujairah

Musandam dhow cruise from Fujairah — 2026 day trip, 2-night package

The Fujairah to Khasab drive is 4–4.5 hours (320 km) via the scenic coastal E89 road and the Dibba border. Same-day return is not safe — we recommend the 2-night package. From 250 AED per person self-drive.

Your route from Fujairah to Khasab

1

Fujairah to Dibba (E89 coastal road)

The 120 km coastal drive north is the most scenic stretch of the trip — the Hajar Mountains on one side, the Gulf of Oman on the other. Time: 1.5 hours.

2

Dibba to the border crossing

The Dibba border is smaller than Al Dara — usually 15-20 minutes to cross. You will need the same documents: passport, Mulkiya/NOC, 50 AED per person for the visa, 35 AED for the UAE exit fee.

3

Border to Khasab (E18 west)

After the border, drive 2 hours west on the E18 through the Hajar Mountains to Khasab. The mountain pass is beautiful but winding — take it slow.

Important — Fujairah to Khasab requires planning

The 5-6 hour drive each way means a same-day return is not practical. We strongly recommend the 2-night package so you can enjoy the dhow cruise without rushing. Our Fujairah guests who try a same-day return consistently regret it — the fatigue makes the border crossing miserable.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive from Fujairah to Khasab?

4 to 4.5 hours one-way, plus 30 to 60 minutes at the border. Total door-to-door is 5 to 6 hours. The distance is 320 km via the E89 coastal road.

Can I do a same-day return from Fujairah?

Not safely. The total drive is 10 to 12 hours round-trip, plus a 6-hour dhow cruise. We recommend the 2-night package — drive to Khasab on day 1, do the dhow on day 2, drive back on day 3.

What is the route from Fujairah to Khasab?

Take the E89 north along the coast to Dibba, then the E18 west into Musandam. The road is scenic, the drive is easy, and the border is at Dibba Al-Baya (also called the Dibba border). This is different from the Al Dara border used by Dubai travellers.

Is the Dibba border different from Al Dara?

Yes. The Dibba border (Dibba Al-Baya) is on the east coast near Fujairah, while Al Dara is on the west coast near Ras Al Khaimah. Dibba is smaller, faster to cross, and closer to the southern Musandam dive sites like Lima Rock.

What is the best package for Fujairah residents?

The 3-day package. Drive to Khasab on day 1, full-day dhow cruise on day 2 (with the Dibba border return through Fujairah), overnight camping on day 3. From 1,800 AED per person.

Is there a ferry from Fujairah to Khasab?

No. There is no passenger ferry between Fujairah and Khasab. The drive is the only option. Some guests fly from Dubai to Khasab (1.5 hours, 35 OMR one-way) but that adds a Dubai detour from Fujairah.
