About Oman House Cafe

Oman House Cafe is the most popular local coffee house in Khasab. It is on the south side of the corniche, 100 m from the dhow departure point, and it has a sea-view terrace that is the best in town. The cafe is open from 07:00 to 23:00 every day, and it is the place where the Omani families of Khasab come for coffee, chai, and shisha in the evening.

The menu is short but well-executed. Arabic coffee (qahwa, cardamom-flavoured, yellow or pink) is 0.5 OMR per cup. Chai (sweet black tea with milk and cardamom) is 0.5 OMR per cup. Fresh juice (mango, lemon-mint, strawberry) is 1.5 OMR. Shisha is 3 OMR per session. The light bites are limited (sandwiches, Omani bread, dates, and Arabic sweets) but the coffee and the view are the point.

We recommend Oman House Cafe for the evening coffee, after the dhow cruise or the mountain safari. The terrace is the best place in Khasab to watch the sunset, and the cafe is a good place to mix with the local families.

Signature dish

Best for

Evening coffee, sunset view, mixing with the local families

✅ Do

  • Order the Arabic coffee — it is the local favourite
  • Sit on the terrace — the view is the point
  • Try the shisha — it is the local tradition
  • Watch the sunset — it is directly over the fjord

❌ Don't

  • Do not photograph the women in the family sections
  • Do not order food from outside — the cafe has a small kitchen
  • Do not smoke shisha inside the cafe — it is allowed on the terrace only

Operator tip

Go at 17:00, an hour before sunset. The terrace fills up quickly in winter, and the 17:00 seating gives you the best light. The Arabic coffee is best when it is fresh — order it when you sit down, not before.
